Introduction of the weight of aluminum alloy fuel tanker compared with ordinary carbon steel fuel tanker

A 50-square aluminum alloy fuel tanker weighs about 7.2 tons, and a 45-square ordinary carbon steel fuel tanker has a weight of about 10-11 tons. The oil tanker is more economical, and the use of aluminum alloy materials greatly reduces the weight of the tanker, increases the loading capacity, and reduces fuel consumption.

Compared with carbon steel and other alloys, aluminum alloys have the following advantages:

  1. Lightweight

The density of aluminum is low, only 2.7g/cm3, and the same volume of aluminum alloy is almost only 1/3 of the weight of steel. The application of aluminum alloy on the tanker greatly reduces its own weight. For example, if a 45m3 tank truck is made of aluminum alloy, it can reduce the weight of 5T compared with steel.

  1. Strong corrosion resistance

Aluminum alloy has incomparable corrosion resistance compared with steel. Tanks made of aluminum alloy can transport various liquids or liquefied gases without coating any protective layer inside, because aluminum alloy tanks have good corrosion resistance. This ensures that the oil is cleaner.

  1. Fuel economy

According to the relevant research report of the European Aluminum Association, every 1T of vehicle light can save 0.6L of gasoline per 10KM. If an aluminum tank truck can reduce the weight of 5T compared to a steel tank, it can be calculated at 12,000KM per year and half of the no-load mileage. At least 1,800L of oil can be saved, which can save 9,720 yuan per year.

  1. Effective load increases economy.

According to the road safety law promulgated by my country, the total weight of the vehicle and cargo shall not exceed 55T. In order to achieve better economic benefits, the vehicle weight should be light. If the aluminum alloy tank can add 5T of cargo, it is still calculated at 120,000KM per year, the transportation cost is RMB 0.5/KM.T, and an additional RMB 150,000/year can be added, and the economic benefits are very considerable.

  1. High recycling value

Due to the high corrosion resistance of aluminum alloys, after the cans are forcibly scrapped, the aluminum alloy cans are not damaged much, and the recycling value of the cans is more than 85% of the original aluminum. That is to say, if a tank is made of 5T aluminum, it will cost at least 80,000 yuan when the tank is scrapped and recycled.

  1. Long product life and low maintenance cost

The aluminum alloy has good corrosion resistance, the aluminum alloy tank body can keep bright and beautiful, and the surface is more beautiful; and it does not require any coating or surface treatment, and the cleaning is very easy, so the maintenance cost of the aluminum alloy tanker is quite small. Therefore, the direct benefit to customers is that the service life of aluminum alloy tanks is greatly extended compared to steel tanks. According to the experience of Europe and North America, the life cycle of an aluminum alloy tank is generally 15 to 20 years, while the life of a steel tank is only 7 to 9 years.

  1. Good electrical conductivity and energy absorption performance, safer.

When the car collides, due to the good electrical conductivity of aluminum alloy, little static electricity is accumulated on the tank body, so no sparks will be generated, thereby avoiding accidents such as explosions. At the same time, the aluminum alloy can well absorb the instantaneous energy generated by the tank body when it collides or rolls over, and will not cause the tank body to crack, leak of oil and other items, and directly cause explosion and environmental pollution.

In addition, since the weight of the tank body is greatly reduced, the center of gravity of the tanker is correspondingly lowered, thereby reducing the possibility of the tanker rolling over and improving its drivability.

  1. Can be welded, bent and pressure processed, no special processing technology

Aluminum, as the third most abundant element in the earth's crust, is very abundant (8.23%). Aluminum alloy is also the second most widely used metal after steel, and its processing technology is very mature. Welding methods such as MIG, TIG, resistance welding, and FSW can be used to weld aluminum alloys. At the same time, aluminum alloys can also be bent, stamped and deep drawn.
